Vertical multistage pumps use multiple impellers arranged in series to increase the pump’s pressure. Each impeller adds to the pressure produced by the previous stage, allowing a multistage pump to achieve higher heads than a single-stage pump while maintaining a relatively compact footprint.
The number of stages required depends on the pressure or head required by the application. As liquid passes through each impeller in sequence, pressure increases progressively before the fluid leaves the pump at the required discharge pressure.
