Shower pumps are generally categorised as either positive head or negative head pumps, with single and twin impeller options available depending on the application.
The correct pump depends on the type of water system and the available head between the shower head and cold-water storage cistern.
A positive head shower pump uses the natural flow of water from the cistern to activate the pump. As a general guide, positive head systems require around 500mm of vertical distance between the shower head and the base of the cistern.
