  • Description

    World’s largest submersible pump

Classic Flygt C-pumps with shrouded impellers have long proven themselves in sewage water, stormwater, cooling water, process water, raw water, irrigation and industrial effluent.

The Flygt C 3800 is the world’s largest submersible pump, able to handle flows up to approximately 3000 l/s (47,550 USGPM) and with motor ratings up to 550 kW (50Hz), 730 hp (60Hz). Standard and explosion-proof drive units are available.

The C 3800 four-channel impeller offers excellent flow passing properties that reduce clogging in the impeller channel. A narrow gap between the replaceable wear rings ensures high efficiency.

    Premium efficiency motors

Flygt C 3800 pumps are available with premium efficiency motors and closed loop cooling to help deliver higher overall efficiency.

Flygt’s internal closed-loop cooling system ensures extended life for the premium efficiency motor in dry, partially submerged, and fully submerged applications. Heat from the stator is transferred to the coolant, which then circulates through an inner and outer cooling jacket and transfers the heat to the pumped media. Because the cooling system is completely sealed off, it is insensitive to impurities in the pumped media, preventing the motor from overheating.

    Robust design for proven reliability

    • Four-channel impeller in cast iron or duplex stainless steel
    • Motor designed for submersible use; heat is concentrated to the stator core for improved cooling properties
    • Low- and medium-voltage motors available
    • Option to upgrade to premium efficiency motor
    • Flexible cooling options, including internal closed-loop cooling, direct cooling, or for warm-liquid applications, external cooling
    • Short shaft overhang reduces shaft deflection and increases seal and bearing life
    • Martensitic stainless steel shaft for strength and corrosion resistance
    • Optional duplex stainless steel shaft for superior corrosion resistance
    • Double mechanical seal system; two sets of mechanical shaft seals work independently to provide double security. Seals available in tungsten carbide (WCCR) or silicon carbide (SiC), depending on pumped media
    • Motor cable SUBCAB® specially developed for submersible use

    Flexible installation options

To reduce the cost of installation, Xylem has standardized many of the main elements of pumping stations so that they can be combined to match specific site conditions. Flygt C 3800 pumps can be installed in wet or dry sumps, with vertical or horizontal orientation.

    Wet pit (P)

Semi-permanent, submersible pump installation. Wet pit arrangement with the pump installed on twin guide bars with automatic connection to the discharge pipe.

    Portable (S)

Portable, submersible pump installation. Portable pump with hose coupling or flange for connection to the discharge pipe.

    Dry installation vertical (T)

Vertical, permanent, dry pump installation. The submersible pump is installed in a dry pit, with flange connection to suction and discharge piping.

    Dry installation horizontal (Z)

Horizontal, permanent, dry pump installation. The submersible pump is installed in a dry pit, with flange connection to suction and discharge piping.

    Expertise in pump station design

Xylem engineers have been researching and designing pump stations for decades – to optimize pumping performance, lower lifecycle costs and meet regulatory requirements.

Whether you’re building a new pump station, troubleshooting problems, or adapting to new operational requirements, our team can help optimize your pump system for your unique environment and needs. Our capabilities include computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis, sump optimization, water hammer calculations, system analysis, transient analysis and more.
